If you’ve never indulged in air-fryer apple chips, you’re in for a treat. They’re essentially dehydrated apple crisps, that can be enjoyed with or without seasoning.

What makes air-fryer apple chips such a great healthy snack option is that they’re budget friendly and naturally sweetened! They crisp up in just 15 minutes, making them the perfect afternoon treat.

What Are Apple Chips?

Apple chips are thinly sliced apples that are lightly sprinkled with cinnamon then cooked until perfect crisp!

Making apple chips in the air fryer ensures a remarkable crunch in far less time than it would take to bake in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 1 apple (I prefer honeycrisp, but red delicious apples are tasty too!)
  • Optional: Ground cinnamon

Tools You’ll Need

Directions

Step 1: Prepare the apples

Air Fryer Apple Chips In A Bowl

Wash the apple and cut into 1/8-inch slices. I suggest using a mandoline but carefully slicing with a sharp knife works, too.

Step 2: Arrange the apples

Air Fryer Apple Chips In Air Fryer Basket

Lay the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket and dust with ground cinnamon.

Editor’s Tip: Cover the slices with a metal rack or trivet to keep the apples from flying around.

Step 3: Air fry the apples

Air fry at 300°F for 15 minutes, flipping every 5 minutes.

Keep a close eye on the apple chips as they cook, as cooking times may vary depending on what type of air fryer you use.

Step 4: Enjoy air-fryer apple chips

Once fully cooked, remove apple chips from the air fryer and let cool. They’ll continue to crisp up as they come to room temperature!

Store leftovers in an airtight container or sealed bag for up to 1 week at room temperature.

Tips for Making Air-Fryer Apple Chips

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket! It’s OK if apple slices overlap a bit, but work in batches if you need to. This will help the apple chips cook evenly.
  • You don’t need to worry about peeling or coring the apple, most of the seeds will fall out during slicing with a mandoline or while cooking.
  • Bake apple chips in the oven instead at 200°F for 2 hours, flipping apple slices halfway through.
