Milk Punch Tips

Can you use different kinds of milk to make milk punch?

If you like trying vintage cocktail recipes, you're going to love this sipper that dates back to the 1600s. Different kinds of milk can be used to make milk punch, but you'll want to use at least 2% or whole milk to create the rich and creamy mouthfeel for which this drink is known. You could even use half-and-half cream for a more decadent treat. It can be prepared with dairy-free alternatives, too; just opt for those with the highest fat content.

How can you make milk punch your own?

Our version of milk punch is mixed with bourbon and rum, but if you're partial to brandy cocktails, you could use that instead. Try garnishing with additional spices such as star anise or a cinnamon stick. Nutmeg is a traditional ingredient, but a dash of clove would also complement the flavors of this drink.

When can you serve milk punch?

Milk punch is often served with brunch, but it's also great as a sweet after-dinner drink. Because this drink is especially popular in New Orleans, it's one of our favorite Mardi Gras recipes.
