The Kosterina Olive Oil Subscription Brings a Drizzle of Greece to Your Kitchen

Olive oil is one of those pantry staples that go on my grocery list so infrequently that I forget to restock it until I’m all-out panicking in the middle of meal prepping. And, yes, there are plenty of times when canola oil, vegetable oil or even butter simply won’t cut it.

That’s the genius of the Kosterina olive oil subscription, in my opinion. Customers have enough of the good stuff—and then some!—with bottles delivered to their doorsteps monthly, bimonthly or quarterly. (Here are our other favorite subscription boxes for foodies.)

What is Kosterina olive oil and its subscription service?

Kosterina Olive Oil

It takes choking down a couple of off-brand bottles of olive oil to understand that not all olive oils are created equal. (Speaking from firsthand experience, of course.) And when it comes to standout ones, Kosterina olive oil leads the pack.

Made from Koroneiki olives grown in the Peloponnese region of Greece, Kosterina olive oil is touted as authentically Mediterranean, delicious and healthy. Nearly 70% of U.S. olive oils are mislabeled as extra virgin (here’s how to find the best varieties), and this deception deprives Americans of the vital antioxidant found in EVOO that makes it so good for them. This not-so-fun fact was one of the numerous motivators for founder Katerina Mountanos to develop this top-shelf product.

Buy bottles of the original extra virgin olive oil or organic everyday extra virgin olive oil individually or as part of a subscription. (There’s also the option to subscribe to deliveries of the company’s flavored oils or fruit vinegars.) The former olive oil is recommended for dipping and finishing, whereas the latter is meant for cooking, baking, roasting and grilling.

Three or six bottles of the EVOO are delivered in gorgeous packaging four, six or 12 times annually. Both the sleek blue and white bottles and the whimsical illustrations drawn on the box scream “Greece.”

But, as we know, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. With an easy-to-use pour spout, seamlessly drizzle the EVOO over finished recipes or into pans or bowls. The oil is a pretty chartreuse color that’s delightfully aromatic.

Why I Love It

Simply put: It’s the real deal. I’ve used Kosterina olive oil for about a month, and I’m already mourning the day I run out. Enter: the subscription.

The oil elevates dressings, pastas, fish and even a dish as simple as eggs. I feel like a pro with the pour spout—it’s an absolute game-changer. Plus, I have no problem leaving these bottles on the kitchen counter as decorative pieces.

I’ve tried both the original and everyday EVOO in their purest forms (i.e., I dipped Italian bread in each with a sprinkle of Maldon salt). I agree that the original has a smoother taste that’s better for dunking, whereas the everyday EVOO is bitey in a way that guarantees it stands out in (but doesn’t overpower) recipes. Let’s just say: I love them both equally.

And though I have yet to try the subscription (it’s on my kitchen gift list!), I’m obsessed with the concept. As someone who pores over a supermarket shopping list, cooking oil still manages to slip my mind. Having shipments delivered to my doorstep on a consistent basis sounds like a lifesaver.

But Don’t Take My Word For It!

Kosterina Olive Oil

Much like myself, hundreds of happy home cooks have converted to Kosterina olive oil for their cooking and kitchen needs.

Taste aside, five-star reviewer Brenda H. notes a difference in the way she felt after using the ingredient. “It helped my joints. I was able to move better.”

Christine C., another customer, has found the bottles make for a great gift for fellow cooks. She shares, “This gift item, whether for a friend or yourself, will definitely not just sit on the shelf gathering dust.”

And it couldn’t get much clearer than verified buyer Chase B.’s message: “BEST. OLIVE. OIL. IN. THE. WORLD.”
