I Made TikTok’s Feta Fried Eggs and the Recipe Is 2-Ingredient Perfection

TikTok has been on a winning streak lately. I’ve had such good luck with tasty recipes like cottage cheese cookie dough and this no-peek chicken! I knew I had to try the viral feta fried eggs after watching them completely take over the internet.

My prediction? This recipe will be another hit! Made with just two ingredients; eggs and feta and ready to devour with your favorite fixings in under 5 minutes, it’s hard to imagine that they’d be anything but delicious.

How to Make Feta Fried Eggs

ingredients for tiktok feta eggs viral recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons feta cheese, crumbled
  • Pinch of ground black pepper and crushed red chili flakes, optional
  • Tortillas, avocado and lime juice, for serving

Directions

Step 1: Fry the egg with feta

frying an egg in a skillet with feta cheese crumbles

Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, sprinkle the feta around the edge of a pan, leaving the center free of cheese. Let the cheese melt for a few seconds, then crack the egg into the center of the skillet. Season with pepper and chili flakes, if desired. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the white turns opaque, then cover the skillet with a lid.

Continue to cook until the whites are fully set, and some white has set over the yolk, about 1 to 2 minutes.

Editor’s Tip: Not a fan of runny yolks? Follow this guide for how to fry an egg to cook your yolks exactly the way you like them.

Step 2: Serve as desired

Fried Feta Eggs on a Tortilla with Avocado

Uncover, let any excess water in the skillet cook off for 30 seconds and then serve the feta egg as desired. One popular TikTok method from @graceelkus is serving the finished feta egg over a tortilla with smashed avocado and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.

Editor’s Tip: Allow the excess water in the skillet to evaporate after uncovering the egg. That’s the trick to getting those perfect crispy feta cheese edges!

Here’s What I Thought

Egg-cellent! TikTok does it again with this incredibly easy, quick and versatile 2-ingredient recipe. We loved the salty bite of the feta lent the eggs (feta is also the star in this Greek roasted potato recipe). Its crispy edges also contrasted nicely with the creamy, soft-cooked yolks. Final verdict: This is one viral recipe worth the hype, and we’ll be adding it to our breakfast recipe rotation.
