Here’s How to Remove a Peach Pit with Pliers

Summer is the season of so many good harvests—corn, cucumbers, peppers, melons and, of course, peaches. You’ll find these juicy, popular stone fruits are harvested from late June to August by the droves. If you’ve never been to a peach farm, I highly recommend it. There’s nothing quite like bringing home a load so large you don’t even have enough space to keep them all! Just means you’ll have to freeze peaches for later or make a heck of a lot of fresh peach cobbler. Oh, darn.

For a lot less waste and a whole ‘lot more peach, you’ll want to learn how to remove a peach pit with pliers.

For this particular hack, you’ll want some needle-nose pliers. The thin jaws will damage the least amount of peach and still get a good grip on the pit. You’ll need to use new pliers, or at least make sure the ones you’ve grabbed from your tool box are thoroughly clean.

All you need to do is grab your clean pliers and push them directly into the middle of your peach. Make sure the jaws are open so they can grab onto the pit. Once you’ve got a solid grip, simply twist the pliers and make a clean pit removal. It’s that easy.

(Psst: Here’s what the white stuff in your peach really means.)

This Summer’s Going to Be Peachy

Now that you’ve got the perfect summer hack, it’s time to make some top-tier peach desserts! Did you know there are certain peaches that are more popular for baking than eating and vice versa? It’s true. And don’t let peaches intimidate you—we’ve got the perfect method for peeling peaches so every recipe is as easy as can be.

If you’re looking for a new recipe to try this season, we recommend the Tennessee peach pudding. It’s a sweet and cinnamony dessert that will have you coming back for seconds and thirds. But, if you’re like me and want something a little more familiar, try some classic peach crumble. I dare say it’s one of the most delicious peach dishes in existence!
