Join the July Bakeable Challenge: Baked Alaska

Our July Challenge

We’re going back in time with this month’s decadent recipe: Baked Alaska! This retro ice cream dessert is made up of three delicious layers: a brownie base, ice cream and then a dome of toasted meringue.

Our spotlighted version takes inspiration from a classic cocktail—the Grasshopper—but you can use your favorite pint in its place. Whatever floats your ice cream boat!

How to Participate

  • Make a baked Alaska: This month’s Grasshopper Baked Alaska is a challenge, but one that’s worth every second spent in the kitchen. We know guests and friends won’t be able to get enough.
  • Try the #Makeable recipe: We know you don’t always have time to tackle our Bakeable Challenges. The good news is that our new #Makeable recipe uses just three ingredients—and one is a pint of your favorite ice cream! Try 3-Ingredient Ice Cream Bread.
  • Enter our sweepstakes: Share photos of this month’s bakes with us and you could win nifty gear for your kitchen. Here’s a hint: These prizes will help you create next month’s challenge!
  • Share photos: You can also share pics on the Bakeable Facebook group or on Instagram (use #bakeable). We’d love to see what you’re baking!
  • Ask questions: If you need help or a few baking tips, talk with our Taste of Home baking pros and fellow bakers. They’re ready to answer all your questions in our Facebook group.

Baking Resources

We’re confident you can tackle this recipe easily. But if you need a little help along the way, don’t be afraid to ask us questions in our Bakeable Facebook group! Editor Lisa Kaminski is there to answer!
